On October 17, the Panthers hosted the District 28-5A Championship. All divisions represented Medina Valley with great heart. The Varsity and JV Boys claimed the District Championships. The Varsity and JV Girls finished as Runners Up.

Varsity Boys Top 5 Finishers:
Senior Case Henrich 2nd
Junior Seth Hernandez 3rd
Sophomore Matthew Fleming 4th
Senior Jason Hinojosa-Ramirez 11th
Junior Blake Mulvany 13th

“I felt good running with the team at my last district cross country meet,” senior Case Henrich said. ”We will continue to push each other in practice to try to run our best at regionals to maybe qualify for state.”

Varsity Girls Top 5 Finishers:
Junior Macy Livingston 1st
Sophomore Kayleigh Corliss 6th
Sophomore Clara Arroyos 8th

“Going into this district I had the mindset to repeat how I did last year and help the team,” junior Macy Livingston said.” For preparing to go to regionals I want to keep a strong and confident mindset.”

“ We did pretty well at districts and we put 100% into all we ran to get ready for district,” junior Zachary Hernandez said.” we want to continue this mindset into track season.”

“I am so proud of everyone who ran,” junior Jazmin Pulido said.” I will continue to practice on building my endurance for track.”

Freshman Boys Top 4 Finishers:

Freshman Aaron Espinoza 2nd
Freshman Hector Rodriguez 4th
Freshman Emiliano Martinez 5th

“Winning first was the experience I have had in cross country,” freshman Joe Garica said. ” I am going to run track so I am going to keep running in offseason until the season starts.”

After the run, the team planned a surprise for junior Macy Livingston. They each gave her a pink carnation flower to represent how they are always beside her and her family as they go through this hard time.

“ The team surprise was really sweet because it has been really stressful lately,” junior Macy Livingston said.”It was great to know they are beside me.”

The Varsity Boys and Girls will go on the represent Medina Valley and the Region IV Championships on October 28, 2019.
