On October 11, Nickelodeon premiered the first episode of a reboot of the cult classic Are You Afraid of The Dark? As of now, the series is planned to be a mini-series with two more episodes following on October 18 and October 25.
“I’m very surprised, and honestly I’m over reboots,” Mrs. Sutton said.
The original series aired on Halloween of 1990. It went on for 5 seasons, ending on April 20, 1996. Then, a reboot was attempted on February 6, 1999, and ran for two more seasons. The first reboot ended on June 11, 2000. After the new mini-series ends, there will officially be 8 completed seasons of Are You Afraid of The Dark?.
“I hope it provides the same type of entertainment to the children of today as it did for me back in the day without trying to make you wet yourself,” Mrs. Jette said.
The original series was created by D.J. MacHale and Ned Kandel. The original was written by Chloe Brown, James Morris, and Scott Peters. The newest revival series is directed by D.J. Caruso, and is written by BenDavid Grabinski and Gary Dauberman.
“I hope they truly try their hardest to top the original,” Coach Schmidt said. “Otherwise it will be an utter disappointment.”
The public’s hopes are high. Those that grew up with the show will have a blast of nostalgia, and those that did not are in for a treat. So pull up a chair, and if the show does its job, it will leave you with one question: Are you afraid of the dark?
