After competing and advancing in Dallas for the state level competition, the Medina Valley Business Professionals of America team advanced to nationals. Advancing members included senior Sarah Hecker, and juniors Katie Tondre and Allie Tschirhart.

The three members advanced as an Admin Support Team. Hecker also advanced in Integrated Office Applications individually. The competition was held at the Hilton in Anaheim, California.
Once arrived the team was able to spend 3 of their 5 days touring around Anaheim. They were able to go to Disneyland, Santa Monica beach, and visit shopping centers.

“[My favorite part was] Santa Monica Pier. it was a lot better than any other Texas beach. Santa Monica was a favorite site among the group.
“[California felt like] walking through San Antonio, it was really touristy and clean,” Tondre said.

The team spent two of their days competing at the Hilton. The group placed 7th in their event and Hecker placed 11th individually.

Goals to do even better next year are to “ recruit some lower classmen and go to nationals next year and do even better,” Tondre said. Business Professionals of America have their final meeting Thursday, May 23 to elect officers for next year.
