Medina Valley swimmers were ready and hopeful as they competed in their last invitational meet of the year on January 12. Going up against students from 12 other schools, the swim team was focused to ensure good outcomes to the performances that determined their scores.

“Because it was the first week back from break, we had to really workout to get back in shape and prepare for this meet,” junior Seth Stuart said.

With the Women’s team placing 10th and Men’s 6th, the Medina Valley swim team was ranked 8th out of the 13.

“I think we weren’t at our full potential because we had been off for two weeks,” sophomore Roxanna Mireles said. “Though I think as a whole, we did pretty good.”

With all invitational meets having come and gone, MV swim is beginning to prepare for District. In less than one week, swimmers will have to direct all they’ve worked on this year into one day, January 24.

“Since the first meet, I have improved my stroke and time,” freshman Jett Winkler said. “Swimming for high school has helped me practice more technique.”

Best wishes to all Medina Valley swimmers competing next Thursday!
